"One and one is two, I’m in love with you, That’s mathematics. Every time you leave, I forget to breathe, I’m asthmatic..."
I know, sometimes Fred Astereo sounds silly, but this song always makes me laugh and when you said you were going to study math I just couldn't help to quote it.
[...] I was trying to write in english how I feel these days, and then I realized that my feeling sucks. You know, the usual post-teenage stuff of a semi-cultured average consumer. Just like a cheap version of the chorus of "Like a rolling stone" by Bob Dylan. So I'd better point my attention elsewhere. For example, i found a new short story by Douglas Coupland here. By the way, how is your pigeon today?
Lalalala (I know, it's funny how I'm still trying to use old insidejokes when I'm talking to you)
I just came in from the back where I've been feeding a pigeon cottage cheese and rolled oats, singing to it.
And no, I haven't gone nuts in this time (more then before anyway). It's just that my twinsister has allways loved animals and had a strange connection to them, and now she works at Skansen. So when a woman came in with this sick, allmost dead citybird she just had to take it home whith her saving it's life (it would have been put to death otherwise). The thing is that everybody around her thinks that it's really disgusting taking care of a bird everybody hate more than cityrats, so somedays when she's not able to take care of it, I do. And now I've really got attached to it. I let it out in the garden (becouse it's just good if it's able to fly away) and instead of runing around or wanting to eat or trying to fly, it just climbed up my in my knee and pressed itself to my stomach.
I will be off line for a couple of days. I'm going to Milan and Geneva (Switzerland) for work, pretending to be an adult employee. I'm trying not to look more and more like a character in a Douglas Coupland novel, but everytime I go in other towns for job I remeber a short story in the book Life After God, where he sits alone in aseptic and impersonal hotel room abroad, eating peanuts and watching satellite tv. Any suggestions to change and look more like a Dilbert character? Or maybe, a Stephen King one?
Well I don't know. I'm so tired, so incredibly tired. And I don't know jet if i will be able to go out tonight, a kind of great, great problem like the ones you have here in Sweden these days. But what's the point in having a blog if you cant complane about them? Now I'm going to meet a friend and drink a lot of coffie and decide what to do with this night and my life.
Yesterday night I saw the Okkervil River in concert. I'm not supposed to be too much into american rock influenced by folk, but I have to admit they made a moving performance. I bought their records and I went to bed very late just to listen to cds. They have really good lyrics too. It was the opening night of the small club where I use to go since really so long, and there has been a moment, during Song Of Our So-Called Friend, when I was just in front of the stage, and the music was striking me, and I found I had nothing to worry about, a moment when I thought "hey, I'm in this place again", and I was happy for the new year that is beginning and all the things to do. I want to get more moments like that. You can find some Okkervil River mp3 here. Their last record is called Black Sheep Boy.
I know you said that you thought that you were out of them, and allthough you're not in Sweden, I belive that you really can count this to one of the Saker som du glömt
Yesterday morning I woke up in a hospital. They told me I had a bike incident during the night because I was too drunk, but I don't have anything broken or bruised. It's funny, I can't remember anything for more than 12 hours. No one knows where I've been (my friends said I left them at about 11 pm), so I didn't tell no one I found myself in a hospital. Did you ever have a "black out"? The numbers on my blood exams are completely irrational. There was a nurse, very nice and hilarious, she said that I talked to her about long drinks and music bands she never heard. I've also lost my glasses, so now it's really time to buy a new one. Today I'm fine and I'm at work. I'm not going to lose my smile as long as I keep on listening to We're From Barcelona by the I'm From Barcelona. Who the hell are they?
So here I am, quite drunk as you are when you are writing when you are drunk in your swedish way. Just came home and the home is empty and I would not go to sleep now. I was thinking when you come home in such conditions and do the blog, and so thought I should have to do it too. So you say that your life is busy, with job and klubbar and something else I don't remember now, and yes LIFE is busy here too, with the comfortable role as a daytime employee and then in the night faking as a dj/music journalist wannabe. Italy don't need scenesters cause Italy dont' have a scene. The indie season in Bologna is starting again. There were The Raveonettes here in Bologna last night. And wednesday I met a troupe from MTV Sweden. They were filming Josephine Foster live for a programme called This Is Our Music: do you know it? They were nice but totally uninterested by everything. They looked a little doped. (By the way, Sweden is following me, or is it just me following sweden?) Next week there will be Okkervill River and the Spoon and somthing more, have to chek, so again other late nights and early mornings, and emails, and business meetings and mp3 blogging, and dowloading music and finiching works, and some whiskey too. Didn't you ever think that sometimes very busy life is so close to very empty life that you can confuse them? Sometimes it happens to me, but for now I have this belief, that the more you do, the more you can easily have new ideas, and the will to do new things. And that's what I need now, more than vodka. buonanotte, un bacio.
